"First Light" Sandhill Cranes on the Missinaibi River 24" x 36" acrylic
This painting is of my first sight of the sun after four days of solid wind, cold and rain eighteen days into a 300-mile journey to James Bay. I was alone 260 miles north of where John Pitcher and I had set out from Missinaibi Lake on August 24, 2001. It is dawn September 11, 2001
While an important source of my artwork, wilderness expeditions are themselves another experssion of my love of nature combined with personal challenge and adventure.
